Travant is an active, long-term manager which invests in dynamic companies across sectors with a focus on financial services, telecoms/IT, energy, mining services, agribusiness, logistics and transportation, consumer goods and real estate. Their investment focus is on West and Central Africa including Angola, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal. They invest selectively outside of their focus sectors. The firm seeks to invest USD 10-200 million in well structured professional companies equipped with the skills and resources needed to adequately address the market. Their ideal investment is between USD 25-35 million and for larger opportunities they co-invest, typically participating in growth, consolidation and transplant opportunities with firms seeking to build upon an existing platform to reach a wider market or to expand operations. In addition to board participation, Travant's internal consulting practice helps investee companies to improve systems and processes, recruit top people and facilitate business development through introduction to strategic partners and customers. They aim to exit investments through trade sales, IPOs or leveraged recapitalizations in three to five years after the initial investment.
