Basem Khalil Salem Al-Salem has founded the Capital Bank of Jordan in 1995, where he currently holds the title of Chairman.
He is also currently the Chairman of the National Bank of Iraq, starting in 2016, and the Chairman of the Association of Banks In Jordan since 2012.
Mr. Al-Salem is the Director of The University of Jordan, Alia-The Royal Jordanian Airlines Plc, General Mining Co. Plc, Endeavor Jordan, e2e Integrated Solutions LLC, Queen Rania Foundation, and Al Khalil Investments Co. Ltd. He has previously held the position of Chairman at the Social Security Corp.
from 2005 to 2009, Chairman-Trustees Board at King's Academy, and Director at Delta Insurance Co. Ltd. (Jordan).
Mr. Al-Salem was also a Member of the Jordanian Senate from 2010 to 2011.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from Imperial College London in 1978.
