The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is based in Vienna, Austria. The IAEA is the world's centre for cooperation in the nuclear field, promoting the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technology. It supports its Member towards the safe and secure deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs), which can enhance energy security while helping to achieve climate goals. The IAEA works in a wide range of areas including energy generation, health, food and agriculture, and environmental protection. It assists its Member in using nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes and facilitates the transfer of such technology and knowledge in a sustainable manner to Member. The IAEA has launched two interconnected mechanisms\: the IAEA Platform on SMRs and their Applications (SMR Platform) and the Nuclear Harmonization and Standardization Initiative.
