Hal Ratner

Mr. Hal Ratner is the Chief Investment Officer at Morningstar Investment Management Europe Ltd.
Previously, he served as a Portfolio Manager and Senior Research Consultant for Morningstar in the United States where he developed, co-managed, and advised on strategies for more than $64 billion in mutual fund and insurance company assets.
Before joining Morningstar, he served as a Vice President of investments for mPower, a privately held, San Francisco-based investment advisory firm that was acquired by Morningstar in July 2003.
He was responsible for developing and maintaining mPower's security selection, asset allocation, and risk tolerance assessment models.
He also led a team of analysts that conducted research on investment managers.
Before joining mPower, he was an Assistant Vice President of global manager research for Callan Associates, a strategic asset management-consulting firm, where he conducted manager searches for the public and private pension markets.
He was also an Analyst at ING Barings Management Consulting Services and at Morningstar, Inc. His work has been published in The Journal of Wealth Management and he has been quoted in numerous publications.
Mr. Ratner holds bachelor's degrees from Antioch College and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
