Markel has been Chief Operating Officer of Herley Industries, Inc. since June 2007.
Prior to joining Herley, he was President of the Network Enabled Systems Line of Business for BAE Systems from 1997.
From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Markel was Vice President of Program Management for GEC Marconi.
He was Vice President-Communication Systems for Hazeltine Corporation.
Mr. Markel has more than 38 years of experience in the defense industry.
He is a Director of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the Long Island Association and a Trustee of the Chilton Hospital Memorial Fund.
Mr. Markel received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Science from Lehigh University and an MBA from Long Island University.
