John E.
Long Jr. serves as Executive Vice President of Human Resources at TVA, reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
In this position he is responsible for Employee Relations and Diversity; TVA University; Compensation and HR Planning; HR Policy Administration; Employee Benefits; HR Information Systems; Health, Safety, and Workers’ Compensation; the STAR 7 Program; and a Shared Resources organization that includes Staffing and Recruiting.
Long is also TVA’s Designated Safety and Health Official, and since 1992 he has served as a management appointee to the TVA Retirement System board.
He began his TVA career in 1980 as a personnel officer in Engineering Design and has held various human resource positions during his 23 years with the corporation.
Long earned a B.S.
and an M.B.A.
in business administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
He has also earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources
