Tomes is the founder of Hilco Equity Management LLC, which was founded in 2003.

He currently holds the position of Managing Director at Torch Lake Capital Management LLC since 2011.
Additionally, Mr. Tomes is currently working as a Senior Partner at Hawthorn Equity Partners, Inc. since 2014.
In the past, he worked as a Principal at Continental Bank Corp.
from 1989 to 1998 and as a Principal at Wynnchurch Capital LLC from 1999 to 2002.
Mr. Tomes obtained an MBA from The University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College.
