Kevin Nietmann, general manager of Constellation Energy’s Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant and Charlene Cole-Newkirk, dean of the College of Southern Maryland’s Prince Frederick campus, have joined Kevin Nietmann, general manager of Constellation Energy’s Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant and Charlene Cole-Newkirk, dean of the College of Southern Maryland’s Prince Frederick campus, have joined the board of directors for Calvert Memorial Hospital.
“Both bring strong leadership skills and management experience to the board,” said CMH President and CEO Jim Xinis.
Additionally, Nietmann is a senior manager at one of the county’s largest private employers and Cole-Newkirk is active in encouraging more young people to pursue health care as a career.
“Health care is important to (Kevin),” said Xinis.
“As a local resident, he uses the services of the hospital and is very interested in the quality of care provided.
His knowledge of quality control procedures will be a tremendous asset to CMH.” Nietmann joined Constellation in 1980 and has held various management positions with the company prior to becoming plant manager at Calvert Cliffs in 2002.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.
In 1991, he completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Maryland.
He has been very active with the local United Way organization.
In 1999, he was named to its board of directors.
He has served on the Critical Needs Committee and in 2001 joined the Executive Committee.
Neitmann lives in Huntingtown with his wife, Carol.
They have four children – Caroline, Keenan Anna and James.
“The college and the hospital share many strategic objectives,” said Xinis.
“I’m looking forward to enhancing our partnership with Charlene on the board.”
