GSMALP offers a wide array of investment strategies that span asset classes, industries, and geographies. The firm's products and services across a full range of asset classes including fixed income, money markets, public and private equity, commodities, hedge funds, and real estate. Clients access these solutions through GSAM's proprietary strategies, strategic partnerships, and open architecture programs.

HFS typically allocates client assets to advisors that are unaffiliated with Goldman Sachs. However, in certain circumstances, they allocate client assets to advisors that are affiliated with Goldman Sachs. The firm's funds-of-hedge funds products invest in underlying funds that may employ a broad range of alternative investment strategies, including strategies within one or more of the following four hedge fund sectors: the equity long/short sector, the relative value sector, the event driven sector and the tactical trading sector. HFS generally employs a dynamic investment process in that includes advisor selection, portfolio design and ongoing risk analysis and monitoring.

GSIS’ private investment strategies focus primarily on direct investing through privately negotiated transactions in privately-held companies or assets with growth potential. In connection with the firm’s management of Advisory Accounts, certain members of the GSIS team focus on particular investment strategies and sub-strategies and/or on implementing such strategies and sub-strategies in specific geographic regions.
