Responsibility for the operation and administration of MOSERS is vested in an eleven-member board of trustees. MOSERS seeks to minimize risk through proper diversification of plan assets. This is achieved through finding an appropriate mix of assets that possess varying characteristics that help reduce the overall volatility of the fund.

Mariner Wealth is a long-term investor that utilizes active and passive management strategies for their clients. The firm constructs portfolios using a mix of individual stocks, bonds, ETFs, exchange-traded notes, closed-end funds, mutual funds, private pooled investment vehicles, structured notes, alternative investments and digital assets. Their equity strategies focus on capital appreciation as a primary objective. They select individual securities based upon fundamental analysis performed by their research investment professionals. Their fixed income strategies aim to achieve capital preservation and are formed through a combined top-down and bottom-up perspective.

MWAO employs a variety of proprietary investment strategies across global asset classes. The firm utilizes a long-term strategy when providing and implementing investment advisor, although they may use a short-term strategy (securities help less than 1 year) should the client’s situation change or the basis for making an investment change. They may recommend that clients authorize the active discretionary management of a portion of their assets by and/or among certain investment managers based on the client's stated investment objectives.

The Public School Retirement System of Missouri's (PSRS) investments fall under the direction of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Office. Their investments approach seeks to achieve broad diversification, which reduces the risk of the total portfolio. PSRS invests in several asset classes across both domestic and international markets and holds a number of securities within each asset class. Investment decisions based on policies established by the Board of Trustees. An internal investment staff recommends, implements and monitors investment strategies established by the Board of Trustees. PSRS uses consultants and outside money managers to invest the fund's assets.

Summit Strategies provides advice on asset classes of marketable securities and private investments insofar as it provides advice on the structuring of a client's portfolio, asset allocation and manager selection. The Summit Funds pursue various investment strategies through investments managed in separate accounts and/or commingled funds, which may include investments in domestic equities, international equities, fixed income (including high yield, non-dollar, and convertible securities), equity surrogates, liquid diversifiers and/or private equity.

Mariner Wealth Advisors constructs portfolios using a mix of individual stocks, bonds, ETFs, exchange-traded notes, closed-end funds, mutual funds and alternative investments. The firm manages clients’ assets through the direct purchase of securities, by allocating to other managers and/or by investing in a variety of funds. Each client’s asset allocation is determined by their specific objectives and unique circumstances. Mariner’s investment approach begins with a clear and thorough understanding of each client’s objectives, time horizon, risk, profile and income needs. They use a long-term strategy when providing and implementing advice. However, should a client’s situation or the basis for making an investment change, there are occasions where Mariner may use a short-term strategy and securities are held less than one year. Mariner uses active and passive management strategies. They employ the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Certain strategies may include responsible investments that consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. Many of their strategies are offered through managed accounts with third party managers and funds. Mariner may construct portfolios consisting of closed-end funds, ETFs, mutual funds and other investment vehicles which pursue investment strategies focused on global equities, global bonds, real assets and alternatives (managed futures, private funds and insurance linked products), among others. The firm offers a variety of options, as well as equity and fixed income managed account strategies to clients through their majority owner, Mariner LLC.
