Michael Joseph McDonough

Mr. Michael J.
McDonough is a Portfolio Manager at Bradley, Foster & Sargent, Inc. Mr. McDonough has twenty-five years of investment experience in the public and private markets with leading alternative investment partnerships.
His mandate has been global, with a special interest in the sectors of technology, media, gaming, consumer/ retail, industrial and specialty financials (including payments and fintech) and the growth economies of Asia.
Prior to joining Bradley, Foster, & Sargent Inc. in May 2021, Mr. McDonough served as a Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Blackwells Capital from 2017-2021, where he managed and evaluated security selection, portfolio construction, and risk for a research-intensive, fundamental and event-driven investment firm.
From 2006 to 2016, Mr. McDonough served as a Portfolio Manager at Pine River Capital, a Portfolio Manager and Managing Director at SAC Capital Advisors and a Portfolio Manager and the Head of Asian Special Situations at Perry Capital.
In these capacities, he managed and co-managed equity-long short, special situation and capital market portfolios with assets in excess of $2 billion.
Mr. McDonough’s experience includes distressed debt, credit default swaps, mezzanine loans and rescue financings and the establishment and development of investment and operational initiatives in Asia.
Mr. McDonough began his career in 1996 as an Analyst for the M&A Group at JP Morgan and then in private equity as a Senior Analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Fox Paine and Company, where he was a Principal.
He received his MBA from Stanford University.
