He was a Member of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy and the American Chemical Society.
Mr. Messerschmidt was President of the Rio Grande Section of SAS and the Southwestern Connecticut Section of Optical Society of America.
He received a BA degree in Natural Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980.
