Shawn P. Groves

Prior to joining Simran Capital Management in 2009, Mr. Groves started his career at Citigroup as an analyst in their corporate finance division.
His experience in corporate finance and strategy, along with transaction experience, led him to a leadership role at Cogent Communications where he developed merger, acquisition, and capital structure plans as the company grew through four rounds of financing and a public offering.
He recently joined Simran after working at Highland Capital Management, LP since 2004 as a Portfolio Manager covering the Cable, Media, and Communications sectors and overseeing $6 billion of domestic and international high yield bonds, leveraged loans, equities, and derivatives.
In this role, he originated and structured several leveraged corporate transactions, led corporate restructurings for various firms, and co-established a European fund platform.
Mr. Groves’ leadership while working with companies and institutions in driving recapitalizations and merger and acquisition transactions and in steering creditor committees through workouts has placed him as a key player in various investment fund industry groups and acknowledged expert in certain sectors.
He has well-established relationships with bond issuers, investors, and underwriters domestically and in Europe and Asia.
Mr. Groves received his MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and graduated with a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University.
