The non-profit company is based in New York, NY. Originating from the play The Vagina Monologues, V-Day supports grassroots anti-violence groups worldwide and runs initiatives such as City of Joy, a leadership community for women survivors of gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo; V-World Farm, a sustainable permaculture project providing agricultural and environmental training; the Beyond Incarceration Project, which supports incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women through restorative justice and storytelling; One Billion Rising, a global mass action to end violence against women; Voices, an interdisciplinary performance arts project highlighting Black women’s stories; and the Dismantle Patriarchy Contest, a creative competition. V-Day also provides grants and rapid response support to grassroots movements and artists working to address violence and transform culture.
