Pilipino Telephone Corporation (Piltel) is the second largest cellular mobile telephone service (CMTS) provider in the Philippines as measured by the number of subscribers. Piltel also provided fixed line telephone services until June 2008 when it transferred its fixed line business to Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). Piltel operates under the jurisdiction of the Philippine National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) which jurisdiction extends, among other things, to approving major services offered, including the rates charged by Piltel to its subscribers. Telserv, which was incorporated and registered on October 1, 1992, was the exclusive provider of operator services for the paging business. PIHC was incorporated and registered in July 17, 1996, while Piltel (Cayman) Ltd. was dissolved in June 30, 2008.
