In his past career he was Head-Noahs Ark Research Lab at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Head-Huawei's Noah's Ark Research Lab at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Professor at Simon Fraser University and Professor at The University of Waterloo.

Dr. Yang received an undergraduate degree from Peking University and a graduate degree, a doctorate and a graduate degree from the University of Maryland.
