BAE Systems plc è uno dei leader mondiali nella progettazione, produzione e commercializzazione di sistemi e attrezzature per la difesa e l'aerospazio. L'attività è organizzata principalmente intorno a tre famiglie di prodotti e servizi:
- attrezzature terrestri: veicoli da combattimento, carri armati, lanciamissili, sistemi di artiglieria, munizioni, ecc;
- sistemi elettronici di comunicazione, navigazione e simulazione. Il gruppo offre anche servizi di riparazione di navi e imbarcazioni;
- attrezzature aeronautiche e marine: aerei, imbarcazioni, sottomarini, ecc.
Le vendite nette sono distribuite geograficamente come segue: Regno Unito (26,8%), Europa (6,6%), Stati Uniti (47,7%), Arabia Saudita (11%), Australia (4,4%), Asia/Pacifico (1,3%), Qatar (1%), Canada (0,7%) e altro (0,5%).
