Karl H. Smith

Mr. Smith leads Russell Real Estate Advisors and is responsible for its strategic direction and business operations.
He has over 22 years of real estate, corporate finance and private equity experience.
As Managing Director, Mr. Smith also oversees all activities involved with advising clients on their institutional real estate investment programs, including strategy design and implementation and ongoing monitoring.
As a member of Russell Real Estate Advisors' Investment Committee, he is involved in manager selection and evaluating investment strategies and products.
He joined Russell in 1997.
Previously, Mr. Smith was a vice president with Institutional Property Consultants, Inc. (IPC), a firm he joined in 1991.
While at IPC, he provided real estate consulting services and managed client relationships for some of the firm's largest clients.
Mr. Smith analyzed his clients' real estate portfolios, developed strategic plans to enhance performance and evaluated investment advisory firms and products for these portfolios.
Mr. Smith worked for Bell Atlantic in Philadelphia in several capacities from 1979 to 1991.
While with Bell Atlantic, he was director of real estate and venture capital for several years.
He is a member of Pension Real Estate Association and serves on the editorial board of The Institutional Real Estate Securities.
He holds a B.S.
in Economics and Finance from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
