Bernert is Principal & Portfolio Manager at Wilbanks, Smith & Thomas Asset Management LLC.
He sits on the Investment Committee and previously served as the firm’s Director of Research.
He joined the firm in 1995.
He is active as a Board member for the Employees Retirement System of the City of Norfolk, Norfolk Academy, the Norfolk Police Foundation, and Future of Hampton Roads, a non-profit organization.
He serves on the Advisory Committee for the Hamptons Roads Community Foundation, on the Leadership Council for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and on the Development Advisory Board for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
Mr. Bernert was previously employed as Broker by Morgan Keegan & Co., Inc. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English Literature and subsequently undertook additional study at Cambridge University in England.
He received an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
