A VC’s job is to support founders as they build scalable products that solve widespread problems and put the world on a positive trajectory.
Australia and NZ can be a global tech powerhouse.
Our tech industry is already a key pillar of our economies.
The market for our tech startups is global (3 Bn+ people instead of our 30 Mn residents) due to the internet, smart devices, cloud computing and cryptocurrencies.
We don’t need to always rely on digging and shipping things anymore.
Our local tech and product talent are world-class.
Government should catalyse this powerhouse by providing startup incentives, funding tech education, and making it easy for more talent to immigrate here.

I’ve been a founder and failed.
I’ve also been a leader at a high growth Series A startup.
The entrepreneurial path can be extremely rewarding but whether it be at the start or scaling, the path is incredibly hard so I fully respect and want to support anyone going through it.
People and culture are key.
Great founders are visionary, builders and customer-led.
But most of all, they create a culture of high ambition, resilience, trust and evangelism, and attract people that scale this culture.
I’ve seen startups with highly capable teams that fail due to poor culture and top big tech companies successfully scale their culture to thousands of staff.
Growing up in Western Sydney and being a first-gen Aussie immigrant means embracing diversity and seeking to appreciate others’ motivations, values and perspectives are in my DNA.
I enjoy meeting people with contrarian views.
They tend to be the ones who change the world.
