Barry Sim

Barry Sim started his career with the EDB in early 1990 and served in various capacities; including being the Vice President (Investments) where he played the leading role in the establishment of new focused industry venture funds, the Director of Industry (Electronics) where he was responsible for spearheading the growth and development of the largest segment of Singapore’s manufacturing industry and as the Director for EDB’s North America operations, charged with promoting US investments into Singapore as well as the forging of strategic business alliances between the two economies.
Prior to his return to EDB Ventures in late 2004, Barry was the Managing Director of Norelco-Centreline Holdings Ltd, a SGX-listed company in the business of contract equipment manufacturing and precision engineering services, where he was responsible for shaping the Group’s strategic growth directions, operations and financial performances.
He was conferred the MBA (Sloan Fellows) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA in 1998.
He obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 1992 and 1988 respectively.
