Bies, CFA MBA, is a Managing Director at Silvercrest Asset Management Group LLC.
He joined the firm in 2019 as a result of Silvercrest’s acquisition of Cortina Asset Management, where he was a Founding Principal.
Mr. Bies has more than 25 years of experience in the investment industry.
He specializes in stock selection in the industrial, telecom, technology, and financial sectors.
Mr. Bies began his investing career as a Domestic Equities Analyst for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.
In 2000, he joined a small/mid cap domestic equity team at Strong Capital Management as an Equity Analyst.
At the end of 2001, he moved to U.S.
Bancorp Asset Management, now known as Nuveen Asset Management, as an Analyst and was soon promoted to Co-Manager.
He was also employed as a Co-Manager by FAF Advisors, Inc. Mr. Bies received his BSBA from Creighton University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Member of the CFA Institute.
