Chanel Rowan

Ms. Chanel Rowan is Head of Quantitative Equity Research at Old Mutual Investment Group South Africa Pty Ltd.
Ms. Rowan’s main responsibility is leveraging quantitative research in order to complement our fundamental research and enhance our alpha-generating capability.
She has developed several multi-factor share screening models and also manages a hedge fund based on the models’ top picks.
In addition she also manages our Data Maintenance Team and is involved in the development of our internal research systems.
She has many years of experience in the asset management industry in a wide variety of roles.
She joined Old Mutual Investment Group (previously OMAM) in 1997 as a Business Analyst, was promoted to Quantitative Analyst in January 2000 and finally appointed as the Head of Quantitative Research and Risk in 2001.
This role has grown to such an extent that it has been divided in two and Chanel is now focusing her attention predominantly on Quantitative Equity Research.
She started her career at Allan Gray in 1990 as a Portfolio Administrator and was subsequently promoted to Performance Analyst, Client Accountant and Trainee Equity Analyst.
