With formal representative status at the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe, WAN-IFRA derives its authority from its network of leading news publishing companies and technology entrepreneurs, as well as its 60 national association members representing 18,000 publications in 120 countries. The German company was founded in 1948, and Vincent Peyrègne has been the CEO since 2012.
