Japanese Consumers' Co-operative Union supplies foods and other daily necessities through store operation and home delivery service to its members. It is an organization organized by consumers who have became members through subscription payment. Its business activities include development of co-op products and their distribution to member co-ops; mail-order business; co-op insurance business; the realization and enhancement of food safety governance from consumer perspective; activities and businesses concerned with peace; environment and welfare; nationwide inter co-op business collaboration; and promotion of other regional alignments. It also engages in other operations such as mutual-aid insurance, social welfare and medical services. The company was founded by Toyohiko Kagawa on March 20, 1951 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
