John Andrew West

Andy West is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of EnerVest, Ltd.
As the company’s chief legal officer, he oversees the company’s legal affairs and leads a team that advises on commercial transactions, litigation, operations, compliance, risk management, and the administration of EnerVest’s institutional investment funds.
Andy also serves as Corporate Secretary and is responsible for the corporate governance of EnerVest and its affiliated entities.
In addition to his responsibilities as General Counsel, Andy has held leadership roles in a number of other capacities at EnerVest, including serving as the company’s Chief Compliance Officer and as General Counsel of EV Energy Partners, L.P., a publicly traded master limited partnership.
Before joining EnerVest in 2014, Andy was Senior Counsel at HighMount Exploration & Production LLC.
Earlier in his career, he practiced at two prominent international law firms, where he represented energy companies in a variety of complex transactional and regulatory matters.
Andy holds a B.A.
with University Honors from Brigham Young University, an M.A., magna cum laude, from Yale University, and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Duke University School of Law.
He is an active member of various professional legal associations and has published and presented on topics concerning the oil and gas industry.
