Mike Thompson

Mr. Mike Thompson is a Principal Research Analyst at Ovum Europe Ltd.
He moved to Ovum after it integrated Butler Group into its own business brand to give their clients an access to a wider and deeper technology research that draws on its collaborative intelligence approach.
Mr. Thompson joined Butler Group in 1998 as an analyst, and became Research Director in 1999.
He has led and authored major reports on subjects as diverse as BPM, database technology, customer relationship management (CRM), and enterprise operating systems, as well as working with other Ovum analysts in preparing reports on virtualization, IT service management (ITSM), governance, and enterprise architecture (EA).
Prior to working in the analyst industry and after leaving the RAF where he worked in electronic engineering, hel worked as an accountant for a multinational car leasing company, spent time as a trainer in the business use of IT, ran his own IT development company focusing on accounting software (having taught himself assembler programming), and was the DBA for Humberside Business Link Central Service Unit.
