The firm was founded in 1997 and is a subsidiary of Artemis Strategic Asset Management Ltd., itself a subsidiary of Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (NYSE: AMG) in the US. AIM manages a range of funds, investment trusts, hedge fund products, venture capital trusts, and pooled and segregated institutional portfolios for both retail and institutional investors.

S.A.C. Global Investors LLP (S.A.C. GI) is the alternative investment management subsidiary of S.A.C. Global Ltd. in Great Britain. Formerly known as Walter Capital Management LLP, the firm was founded by Richard Walter in 2000. S.A.C. bought a stake in the business in 2004 and renamed it S.A.C. Global Investors LLP in 2008. Based in London, the firm is affiliated with Stephen Cohen's US-based multistrategy hedge fund firm S.A.C. Capital Advisors LP.
