Byron Thames is a Director of the American Association of Retired Persons, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Orlando Regional Medical Center, and the Florida Physicians Insurance Reciprocal.
He is a Medical Director of the Florida Hospital Human Resources, the Darden Employee Clinic, and COMPNET and Chief Medical Consultant at Walt Disney World and SeaWorld.
Prior to joining the American Association of Retired Persons, Dr. Thames was a Member of the Board Governance Committee, the Audit and Finance Committee at the AARP Services, Inc. and a Member of the AARP's National Legislative Council.
Before that, he was Chairman of the Florida Coalition for Patient Safety and the Executive Committee for the Central Florida AIDS Planning Coalition, a Member of the Florida Geriatric Medical Education Task Force, and a Director of Goodwill Industries and the Meals on Wheels of Central Florida.
Previously, Dr. Thames held officer positions at the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and Florida Medical Association.
