In addition to his role with Vesalius Ventures, Dr. KenKnight is Vice President of Research and New Business Development for Boston Scientific, Cardiac Rhythm Management Division and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.
Since joining Boston Scientific, CRM (previously known as Guidant) in 1990, Dr. KenKnight held various technical and managerial roles, including Senior Principal Scientist, Visiting Scientist, Basic Arrhythmia Lab, Duke University, Visiting Principal Scientist, Cardiac Rhythm Management Lab, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Manager of Tachycardia & Bradycardia Therapy Research.
He was promoted to Director of Heart Failure, Atrial Arrhythmia and Emerging Technology Research in 1999.
Prior to joining Guidant he worked in various research and development roles with early-stage medical technology companies.
He is an author of 45 peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews and book chapters as well as nearly 100 conference abstracts in fields relating to cardiac electrophysiology and heart failure.
He is an editorial consultant for the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Heart Rhythm, Cardiovascular Research and the International Journal of Cardiology.Since founding the business development function at Guidant, Dr. KenKnight has led the execution of numerous transactions including private equity investments in early-stage technology companies, strategic alliances, as well as, in-licensing and out-licensing of critical technologies.
A native of Minnesota, Dr. KenKnight received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, master of science and Ph.D.
degrees in biomedical engineering from the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
