Cadmus Metcalf Hicks

Dr. Cadmus M.
Hicks is a Director of Performance Risk & Analysis at Nuveen Asset Management LLC.
He is market strategist for the investment team that manages Municipal Fixed Income portfolios.
In this role, he supports the separately managed account and mutual fund areas by analyzing performance attribution data and reporting on developments in the municipal market that could potentially affect performance.
He began working in the financial industry in 1980 when he joined Nuveen Investments and was promoted to the role of research analyst.
During his tenure as an analyst, he initiated the firm’s coverage of the tobacco bond sector.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Hicks managed the Municipal Fixed Income Research Department for three years, starting in 1996.
Previously, he was the assistant manager of the department, where he was responsible for launching Nuveen’s research operation in Irvine, California, and supervising that team of analysts.
He serves as one of the company’s leading experts on the municipal bond market, extensively writing about a broad array of topics including: tax policy, market regulation, financial planning, and credit issues.
He is also a past president of the Chicago Municipal Analysts Society and a former board member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.
In addition, he has served on an advisory committee of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
Dr. Hicks earned a B.A.
from Wheaton College, an M.A.
from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D.
from Northwestern University.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.
