Mr. Douglas J.
Gardiner, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager & Head of Public Fixed Income at Sun Life Capital Management (Canada), Inc. He joined Sun Life in 2001 and became Head of Canadian and U.K.
Public Fixed Income in 2007.
When Sun Life Investment Management launched in 2014, he added Portfolio Manager, Public Fixed Income and Derivatives for the growing third-party business, to his mandate.
He has over 30 years of industry experience.
In his current role, he oversees investment activities in the public fixed income and derivatives markets for Canadian pension asset management clients including Sun Life’s general account portfolios in Canada, as well as the U.S.
and U.K.
He leads a team of over 45 investment professionals who manage approximately $69 billion of public fixed income assets and $54 billion notional of derivatives.
He also oversees the Credit Research team who support the investment teams responsible for Canadian and U.S.
insurance and pension asset management.
Prior to joining Sun Life, Mr. Gardiner advanced through roles at Confederation Life, eventually completing his tenure overseeing the public fixed income trading operations.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University.
He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
