Sutton joined The Providence Journal Co. in 1973 and has been Publisher, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since 1999.
He is Chairman of the United Way and Vice President of the Providence Preservation Society and a Member of the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
Mr. Sutton is a Director of the Women & Infants' Hospital, the Providence College President's Council, The Rhode Island Commodores, The Providence Foundation, the YMCA, the Meeting Street School, Crossroads Rhode Island and Salve Regina University.
He was President and an Assistant Publisher of The Providence Journal Co. Mr. Sutton was President of the New England Newspaper Association.
He received an undergraduate degree in History from the University of Notre Dame Du Lac and an MBA from Providence College.
