Merton Mencap is a local registered charity that supports people with learning disabilities and/or autism, as well as their parents and carers in the borough of Merton. The non-profit company is based in Morden, UK and was founded in 1946. The British company is independent of the national charity, Royal Mencap Society, but are affiliated with them. The charity is responsible for raising all of its own funds. Merton Mencap offers a range of services for children and young adults with learning disabilities. The company also has a Learning Disability Forum, which provides up-to-date information for the learning disability community. The forum includes people with learning disabilities, their family carers, local service providers, Merton Council, and health representatives.
