Louis G. Kuijs

Dr. Louis G.
Kuijs is Chief China Economist at The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc.
He joined RBS from the Fung Global Institute where he coordinated a research project on the evolving economic growth models of China & India.
Prior to that, he was Chief Economist at MFGlobal, joined September 2011 and was responsible in analyzing, forecasting and giving comment on macroeconomic developments including key policy actions driving financial markets in the Asia Pacific region.
Dr. Kuijs has over 17 years of experience in macroeconomic analysis and policy works across different regions.
He was previously a Senior Economist at the World Bank office in Beijing for 7 years and had coordinated the bank’s macroeconomic work in China that included analysis and policy dialogue with policymakers, academics and other experts.
Aside from writing a number of well-disseminated paper, he was also the main author of World Bank’s China Quarterly Update and had led the medium term review of China’s 11th Five Year Plan.
He also worked as an Economist at International Monetary Fund in Washington DC from 1997 to 2004, participated in policy dialogue and conducted economic research in a range of emerging markets and high income countries.
His works include macroeconomic forecasting and modeling on countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia at Oxford Economics.
Dr. Kuijs holds PhD in Enonomics from University of Amsterdam and Master of Science in Economics from London School of Economics.
He is fluent in English & Dutch and has working knowlegdge in Mandarin, German, French and Spanish.
