Michael T. Richards

Michael Richards is an Operating Partner with STG.
Bringing over 30 years of operational, consulting, investing and M&A advisory experience, Mike works closely with portfolio company management to lead complex cross-functional operational, technical and strategic transformations.
Prior to joining STG in 2020, Mike worked closely with several private equity firms to develop and invest behind an investment thematic targeting the music industry, including technology and technology-enabled services and intellectual property.
In 2012 Mike joined KPMG as a Partner to lead the firm’s West Region (U.S.) Private Equity Transactions practice.
In this role Mike spent six years working closely with several large private equity firms, leading teams focused on due diligence, structuring, acquisition financings and M&A-driven integrations and separations.
From 2002 through 2012 Mike was a Partner in Deloitte’s M&A advisory practice where he led complex, global buyout transactions on behalf of private equity clients across a number industry sectors including technology, consumer, financial services, industrials, energy and healthcare.
Previously, Mike was a Principal at Calera Capital (Fremont Partners) where he was responsible for quality and oversight of professional due diligence, debt and equity structuring, portfolio company management incentive plans, board reporting and external financial reporting.
Mike received his B.A., Business and Accounting from the University of Idaho and is a Certified Public Accountant in California, Idaho and Texas (inactive).
