Richard D. Coutts

Richard D.
Coutts is a Medical Director of Sharp Memorial Hospitai.
He is a Medical Director of Orthopaedics for the Sharp HealthCare system and an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery of the University of California, San Diego and a Co-Director of an Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship.
He is Vice President of Grants and Chairman of the Board for the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and currently serves as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Representative to the Medical Technology Leadership Forum.
Dr. Coutts is President of the Board of Directors for the Malcolm and Dorothy Coutts Institute of Joint Reconstruction and Research in San Diego.
He is a Senior Member in the private practice Orthopaedic Group in San Diego and a Member of multiple societies and has published almost 200 articles, abstracts and book chapters.
Previously, he was President of the Orthopaedic Research Society and the Hip Society.
Dr. Coutts was Chairman of the Council of Musculoskeletal Specialty Societies for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Prior to this, he was Director of the American Academy for Orthopaedic Surgeons and Chairman of the Sharp HealthCare Foundation.
He spent one year as a Clinical and Research Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Coutts is a Fellow in orthopaedic research at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Center in Oxford, England.
He attended San Diego State University in California and received MD from the UCLA Medical School.
