The firm was founded in 1994 as Minkgrove Ltd. and they became Old Mutual Global Investors (UK) Ltd. in 2012 after the merger of Skandia Investment Group and Old Mutual Asset Managers (UK) Ltd. They renamed into Merian Global Investors (UK) Ltd. in 2018. The firm is a direct subsidiary of Jupiter Fund Management Plc (LON: JUP), which acquired the firm in 2020. MGI-UK provides asset management services to sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, endowments, family offices and other financial institutions.

(OMAM) is the Great Britain-based investment management subsidiary of Old Mutual Global Investors (UK) Ltd., itself a subsidiary of Old Mutual Plc (LSE: OML), a global financial services group which operates in Europe, South Africa, the U.S. and Asia Pacific. Old Mutual traces their history back to 1845, originating as a South African-based mutual society. In 1999, they became a public listing. Located in London. Newton Investment Management Ltd. (Newton) is the wholly-owned, Great Britain-based investment management subsidiary of Newton Management Ltd., ultimately held by The Bank of New York Mellon Corp. (NYSE: BK) (BNY Mellon) in the US. The firm was founded in 1978 as a joint venture with Scottish insurance broker Reed Stenhouse. In 1986 they were acquired by Alexander & Alexander and were renamed Newton Investment Management. Headquartered in London, Newton provides investment products and services to a wide range of clients, such as pension funds, charities, corporations and individuals (via BNY Mellon).
