Absa Capital Private Equity (Pty) Ltd. (Absa Capital PE) is the South African private equity arm of Absa Group Ltd. (JH: ASA), itself a subsidiary of Barclays Plc (LSE: BARC) in the UK. Located in Sandton, the firm has a long-term arrangement with the Monitor Group, a Boston-based global strategy consulting firm which provides strategic, monitoring and implementation capacity and support. Their institutional link to Absa and Barclays provides them with access to specialized local and international resources. Absa Capital PE has access to a standby, overnight debt facility provided by a consortium of financial institutions, which facilitates speed of deal execution. Funds operated by the firm form part of the Barclays Capital suite of private equity funds.
