The Group's principal activity is the venture capital operation and financing. The operations are carried out through the following divisions: Investment division deals with investment in venture business of domestic and overseas companies; establishing, operation and management of assets of investment partnerships and Financing division deals with loans, leasing, and other financial services.

Daiwa Securities Co., Ltd. engages in the business of financial instruments trading services which includes underwriting securities and its related business. It also provides the online trading, brokerage, purchase and sale of securities and acts as an agent or perform agency functions. The company was founded in 1943 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Hotung International Co. Ltd. (HIC) is an affiliate of the venture capital group Hotung Investment Holdings Ltd. (SG: H34), which operates in Taiwan, in Silicon Valley (US) and in Shanghai. The group is also active in Japan, South Korea, and Germany through strategic alliances. The Hotung group originated in 1987, was reorganized in 1997 upon public listing and the venture capital fund management activities were transferred to the newly-established HIC. Based in Taipei, HIC operates as the group's fund management specialist. They manage a series of open-ended venture capital funds on behalf of the Hotung group. They also sub-advise third-party closed-end corporate funds set up by Japanese and Taiwanese corporations.
