Mr. John W.
Comery is President & Co-Chief Executive Officer at IG Realty Investments, Inc. He is responsible for corporate governance, coordinating documentation and supporting transaction activity.
He is also responsible for the direction of the Company’s legal affairs to ensure that its business strategies, policies and programs are developed and applied in full recognition of all legal implications and risks.
Prior to joining IG Realty Investments, Mr. Comery developed many years of experience as in-house counsel at Cambridge Shopping Centres Limited and Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc. His experience spans the breadth of corporate and real estate law including corporate secretarial and corporate governance work, acquisitions, dispositions, developments, financing, tax planning, joint ventures and lease negotiations.
He has a working knowledge of real estate legal systems in several foreign jurisdictions.
Since 2001, he has closed over $9.5 billion in transactions in Canada, the United States, South America and Europe, including the CAD $1 billion acquisition in 2006 of a 50% interest in Vaughan mills and St. Enoch Center and 100% interest in Madrid Xanadu.
Mr. Comery is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
