Ramu Thiagarajan

Dr. Ramu Thiagarajan is a Senior Investment Advisor at SSgA Funds Management, Inc. He is also Chairman of Investment Technical Committee and Global Head of Fixed Income, Cash & Currency Research.
In this role, he provides leadership to all fundamental and quantitative research efforts for active, indexing and smart beta fixed income, cash and currency strategies.
Most recently he served as Global Head of Fixed Income Quant Research at AllianceBernstein with responsibility for maintaining, improving and innovating all models used for investment and risk management.
Prior to joining AllianceBernstein, Dr. Thiagarajan was the Head of the Deutsche Bank Asset Management Research Center where he was responsible for authoring and enabling leading edge research on a variety of asset classes including stocks, bonds and commodities.
He led a team of researchers and provided guidance and thought leadership to the institutional clients of the asset management division.
During his tenure at Deutsche Bank, he also managed a global equity hedge fund covering developed and emerging markets.
Prior to his time at Deutsche Bank, Dr. Thiagarajan was the head of all quantitative strategies in Pequot, a large hedge fund managing a global equity strategy.
He began his career in asset management at Mellon Capital in 1999 where he became a partner and head of all active equity strategies, and also started their first equity hedge funds.
Dr. Thiagarajan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Madras, a graduate degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate degree from the University of Florida.
