The combined firm operates under the BlackRock name and has retained the iShares brand. Originally founded in 1971, BGI managed assets for individual investors, government and corporate retirement plans, financial institutions, charities, endowments and unions. BGI, headquartered in New York City, was a leader in investment management, risk management and advisory services for institutional and retail clients worldwide. They offered a wide range of products including separate accounts, mutual funds and ETFs.

Part of GRAFIX Training, Inc., Caxton, Inc. provides training and consulting services for electronic publishing. The company is based in San Francisco, CA. Caxton was acquired by Bright Path Solutions on July 16, 2003.

Clinton Group, Inc. is a registered investment advisor and hedge fund manager headquartered in New York City. The firm was founded by George E. Hall in 1991 and is a subsidiary of Madison Avenue Capital Holdings, Inc., which is owned by CGI Holdings, Inc. Clinton Group serves as investment manager primarily for an offshore private investment fund, as well as pools of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), collateralized bond obligations (CBOs) and other structured products for which the the firm as collateral manager.
