Blair Stewart

Mr. Blair Stewart is a Research Analyst at Merrill Lynch International.
He is Head of the UK & European insurance team in equity research, based in London and Edinburgh.
Since joining Merrill Lynch’s European insurance team in 2002, he has covered a wide range of insurance companies in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Scandinavia Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Stewart worked at Deutsche Bank in the European insurance team.
Previously, he was an Actuary with The Scottish Life Assurance Company, qualifying in 2000.
He also worked as an equity research analyst at Scottish Life and then as the company’s investment actuary and head of its derivative operations.
He has contributed to a significant and sustained improvement in the team’s ranking, culminating in a #1 position in the Institutional Investor survey for the past seven years in a row.
He has also been ranked #1 or #2 pan-European insurance analyst in the Thomson Reuters Extel Surveys for several years.
In addition, he has received a number of Starmine awards over the past few years, including the #1 earnings estimator for the UK insurance market.
Mr. Blair graduated with Honors in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, in 1994.
He is also a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
