Carlos de Sousa

Mr. Carlos de Sousa is a Portfolio Manager & Analyst at Vontobel Asset Management AG.
He joined Vontobel Asset Management in January 2021.
In his role as Emerging Markets Strategist and Portfolio Manager, he supports the asset allocation process of the Emerging Markets Debt hard currency fund by providing top-down and country-specific views based on in-depth macro and political analysis and sovereign risk and bond valuation models.
He also works on client engagement and communication through frequent publications and direct client contact.
Before this, he worked as Lead Emerging Markets Economist at Oxford Economics, a leading global forecasting and quantitative analysis organization.
Before that, he was a research fellow at Bruegel in Brussels, a think tank specializing in economics, where he authored policy-oriented research focusing on European economics.
Earlier in his career, Carlos worked as Economist at Ecoanalitica in Caracas, where he was responsible for macroeconomic forecasts of Venezuela and the several Caribbean and Central American countries.
Carlos de Sousa holds a Master’s degree in Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Economics from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
