Juan Manuel Ruiz

Dr. Juan Manuel Ruiz is a Chief Economist-Latam at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA. He joined BBVA research in 2010 and is currently responsible for South American Economies.
Previously, he was the Head of the International Economics Division at Banco de España, the Spanish Central Bank.
He represented Banco de España in many working groups at the European Central Bank, OECD and BIS.
He has also worked at the Economic Studies department at SUNAT, the Peruvian Tax Administration.
Dr. Ruiz has also taught at several economics departments, including Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and University of Essex in the UK.
Dr. Ruiz holds a BA in Economics from Universidad Católica del Perú and PhD in Economics from Boston University.
