Kamal Harilal

Kamal joined Sango as an operating partner in 2021.
He supports the due diligence, negotiation and execution of private equity transactions, as well as the post-investment monitoring, management and value creation processes.
Kamal works with portfolio company executive teams and, where requested, with select investee fund teams to support portfolio company organic growth, M&A, operational and commercial performance improvement initiatives.
He has 25 years of experience as a leader in the consumer goods industry, investment banking and strategy consulting across Africa and the United Kingdom.
Kamal brings his extensive experience in strategy development and execution, commercial and operations management, leveraged finance and M&A to bear on portfolio companies as well as on Sango’s internal strategic thrust.
Prior to joining Sango, Kamal was Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at Tiger Brands (one of the largest consumer goods companies in Africa).
In addition, he held various senior roles at ABInBev/SABMiller Africa, Standard Bank and Monitor Deloitte.
