Marcus Kappler

Dr. Marcus Kappler is Senior Research Analyst at Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung GmbH.
He is also Deputy Head of the Business Cycles and Growth research group at at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW).
He was project manager of several studies commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German Federal Ministry of Finance, and the European Commission.
These studies involved analysis of international business cycle linkages with a special focus on the EU and the new member states and assessments of methods to estimate potential output, output gaps and structural unemployment.
In 2007, Dr. Kappler completed his doctoral studies at the University of Frankfurt.
Prior to that, he studied economics at the universities of Tübingen and Maryland, USA, and obtained a diploma from the Free University in Berlin in 2002.
