Derby was the founder of Norphan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (founded in 2011) where he served as the Chief Executive Officer from 2011 to 2013.
He is also the founder of TardiMed Sciences LLC (founded in 2019) where he currently holds the position of Managing Partner.
In addition, Derby is the founder of Castle Creek Biosciences, Inc. (founded in 2015) and serves as the Vice Chairman.
He was also the founder of PaxMedica, Inc. (founded in 2018) where he held the position of Executive Chairman from 2018 to 2023.
Currently, Mr. Derby holds the position of Executive Chairman at Timber Pharmaceuticals LLC and Visiox Pharma LLC.
Previously, Derby worked as the Executive Chairman at Trex Wind-down, Inc. from 2019 to 2021.
He also served as an Independent Director at Acasti Pharma, Inc. and held the position of Principal at Merck & Co., Inc. Derby was a Principal at EGS Healthcare Capital Partners LLC from 2002 to 2008 and worked as an Equity Research Associate at ING Baring Furman Selz LLC.
He also held the position of Vice President-Corporate Development at Marathon Pharmaceuticals LLC.
In terms of education, Mr. Derby graduated from Rochester Christian University in 1997.
He completed his undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University in 1995 and obtained an MBA from The Leonard N Stern School of Business.
