Teachers Advisors LLC (TAL) is a SEC-registered investment advisor headquartered in New York City. The firm was founded in 1993 and formerly known as Teachers Advisors, Inc. They are a subsidiary of Nuveen Finance LLC, ultimately owned by TIAA Board of Governors. TAL provides services to individual and institutional separately managed account clients primarily through investment advisory programs such as wrap-fee and dual contract arrangements, and Exchange Traded Funds. On occasion, the firm provides portfolio recommendations to sponsors of unit investment trusts which are sold by the sponsor through broker-dealers and other firms.
